Some Things I’ve Worked On

While You Were Partying, I Studied the Blade
SHORT FILM - 2020
This was my first time as a director on a project this big and I really did have a blast. There were definitely a lot pains along the way. Covid caused us to shoot half on campus and use actors entirely within our cohort but I am happy with the end product. I was really blessed with a great crew who helped every step along the way.
It’s has been over a year since the project wrapped and I am still sitting on the final edit, trying to find the time and motivation to make the changes it needs. Like most first time directors I am a bit protective of my work but I can promise something will be coming soon.

Suburban Hell
SHORT FILM - 2021
After my first year as director, I wanted a change and when Owen Morfitt, my DoP from While You Were Partying got chosen to direct he asked if I could produce and I jumped on, though I will say hesitantly. I remember mentioning to Owen a week or so before, that his script was great but I thought it would be almost impossible to do it justice without a reasonable budget. Naturally, I ate those words and became the person to make sure that statement was false and I am very happy I did.
We are currently in the edit room for Suburban Hell and it is shaping up to be quite something. Again, we were blessed with a great crew (especially our make-up and costume people) and I can’t wait to share with y’all.

Dream Sweet in Sea Major
ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEO - 2019
This was my first and only attempt at something animated I did a couple of years ago during my first run at uni back in Adelaide. It’s a video that has stuck with me because despite not working with animation that often I think it is genuinely really good and work that I am proud of. It did take hours to cut over 200 of those black cards but in the end definitely worth it.
I’m looking at doing another video in a similar style soon so keep an eye out and hopefully I can find the time do it :)

The Hair on My Body
SHORT DOCUMENTARY - 2021
At Swinburne, we were also given the opportunity to work on short documentaries in a similar process to the short films. I jumped on board Ally Winslow’s doco The Hair on My Body as the sound recordist and had a blast.
The sound on the project wasn’t too complicated but I managed to put in some work in other areas too just to help out. I designed key art for the short along with doing some production design. I always enjoy the visual elements of projects and anywhere I can put a creative flare in I won’t say no.

1 Minute Short Films
PLAYING WITH SIBLINGS | WHAT’S THE NUMBER, BRUV? | NO DEEDS LEFT UNPUNISHED
Also while at Swinburne we were tasked to create a series of 1 minute short films using different prompts. Usually for a task like this, I would keep them to myself but I do like what I achieved here.
I also experimented a bit, one time using a very basic script and seeing how it could evolve with improv during the shoot; and then again with the final short where I dabbled into tense drama rather than my typical comedy roots.
They were a lot of fun and creatively engaging.
What I’ve been up to
